In the area of Namsung-ro Daegu, which has long been also referred to as Yak-jeon Alley, there are still 180 businesses related to oriental herbal medicines, including herbal medicinal clinics, herbal medicinal shops, herbal decoction/pill makers, herbal foods, and ginseng sellers, all of which are still flourishing. This very place is called Yangyeongsi, one of the most representative cultural heritages of Daegu City, and this year marks the 362th year since the opening.

Starting from the year of 1978, Daegu Yangyeongsi Festival used to be held as a part of the celebration of the opening ceremony of Yangyeongsi. Now, Daegu Yangyeongsi Festival has now been selected and held as a[Tourism and Culture Festival] to represent korea, for 18 consecutive years since the year of 2001.
